Electronics Redistribution and Recycling Program

501Tech turns donated technology into valuable resources for nonprofits and schools across Oklahoma. By refurbishing usable equipment and responsibly recycling the rest, we help organizations save money, reduce waste, and expand their impact.

Since 2012, we’ve redistributed over 6,100 PCs and 5,100 monitors, saving community partners more than $2.1 million in technology costs.  As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, we provide devices loaded with licensed Windows 11 Pro, ready for immediate use.

Equipment that can’t be reused is securely recycled in compliance with all environmental and data protection standards. All donated devices are safely handled, with hard drives either fully wiped using DoD-compliant methods or physically destroyed.

Are you a corporation with equipment to donate? Contact us to schedule a drop-off or pickup and help put technology back to work in our community.

Redistribution of Laptops

Devices typically include systems with at least an Intel i5 processor and monitors 22 inches or larger, all prepared for immediate use. By extending the life of quality equipment and reducing costs, 501tech helps nonprofits and schools stay focused on their mission while maintaining the tools they need to succeed.

Data Erasure

All hard drives are erased using commercial-grade software (Kill Disk), which employs a triple-pass erasure process that complies with the DoD 5220.22-M standard. Drives that cannot be erased using this method due to physical damage are destroyed using a drill press.

Recycling of Electronics Waste

501tech responsibly recycles all donated electronics that do not meet our minimum standards or are no longer in working condition. Every item is processed in accordance with strict environmental regulations and data security protocols, ensuring safe and compliant disposal. While some recycled materials have little or no scrap value, we maintain the same responsible recycling practices across all equipment. To help offset third-party processing costs, a $20 fee applies to CRT displays and televisions, which require specialized handling. We also accept small desktop printers for recycling, with a $5 fee per unit to cover vendor costs. Please note that we are unable to accept large printers.
